Southern California’s STARS IN STEREO today discovered that their website, http://starsinstereo.com, as well as all of their social networking sites, have been shut down. The five-piece band is currently on an acoustic tour with Anberlin in support of their self-titled debut album, which was released on April 9, 2013 on Hundred Handed.
“We aren’t really sure what is going on with our website and socials,” commented the band. “Only a handful of people have gotten a peek at the new ‘Every Last Thing’ video but nowadays it isn’t so far fetched for someone to have found their way through the privacy settings on YouTube (or any other site for that matter) and stolen a look. Our guess is that we either hit someone too close to home with the message or the graphic content or someone has a very involved, detailed sense of humor. We seriously doubt the NSA would waste their time on someone like us but maybe someone is considering us their own Snowden… Whatever it is, we are sorry that our fans have to put up with this nonsense too. It’s a shame that this “Syndicate XX” thinks they can ruin our fun… We want our fans to give them hell because this certainly isn’t changing any of our plans. We are working to get it all sorted by the launch of the video because it’s coming either way!”
The video for “Every Last Thing” is currently set to debut on Friday, June 28 at 10am Pacific. The statement now visible on the band’s site says (in part):
This website is now under the control of Syndicate XX. Anyone caught attempting to access this website or claiming to be a part of the unlawful group known as the SinnerS will suffer the same fate as its leaders Stars in Stereo. We have taken your so called heroes into custody and they will be punished to the full extent of our laws. Any remaining support of these vagrant rebels will be seen as an act of treason and will be responded to as such.
Fans are as bewildered as the band about the seize of control as evidenced by these comments on SinS Facebook page:
Stars in Stereo (Bec – vocals, Jordan – guitar, Frogs – guitar, Drew – drums, Justin – bass) formed in 2012 in Los Angeles and have already amassed a dedicated fan base and have shared the stage with The Used, Foxy Shazam, Blue October, Flyleaf, Drowning Pool, Halestorm, Young Guns, and Bullet For My Valentine.
