Stars’ New “Backlines” Music Video

By on October 24, 2012

Stars premiered their video for “Backlines” on RollingStone.com yesterday.  The playful video finds the band shrunken down to play a small stage in an automaton of a cityscape attacked by a Godzilla like creature. This is the first video from the band’s new album The North (ATO Records) which debuted in the top 50 of Billboard’s Album Chart at #48 and at #12 on Billboard’s Independent Label Chart making it their highest charting Billboard debut to date.
The North, recorded in Montreal’s historic RCA Victor Studios, is Stars’ sixth full-length album and was produced by Stars, Graham Lessard and Marcus Paquin (Arcade Fire). You can purchase a copy now from Stars here or on iTunes here. The album can also be streamed in its entirety on SoundCloud.
“(The North) rewards exploration with moments that alternately swoon, seethe, swing and paralyze.”

“The band has grown. The music has evolved. But the message of feeling alive despite all odds is more apparent than ever.” -Paste
Stars have been making excellent music for so long… and have only gotten better and generally less fussy with age. With the release of ‘The North’ this month, Stars have never sounded more at ease.” – Stereogum
