Yesterday’s News, the debut LP from Santa Rosa, CA’s Strike To Survive, is officially out today and streaming exclusively at New Noise Magazine. To listen to the album in its entirety, go here.

The 11-track long-player was issued by Don’t Look Down Records and is limited to a pressing of 300 on 180-gram black vinyl. You can order the 12-inch here or grab a digital version from Strike To Survive’s bandcamp. While you’re at it, check out this promo video for a good chuckle. The chuckle is free, fyi.

Beginning next Friday, Strike To Survive will embark on a month-long, coast-to-coast tour of the U.S. in support of Yesterday’s News. The band will be joined by Santa Rosa brethren State Faults (No Sleep Records, Tiny Engines) and the trek will find the two outfits playing shows in nearly every region of the country. Details and other information can be viewed below. As always, if you’d like to attend a show or speak with either band, drop me a line here.

Strike To Survive has no issues getting from Point A to Point B in relatively little time. Recorded by Jack Shirley (Joyce Manor, Whirr, Punch) these 11 percussive, bombastic chunks of melodic hardcore are about as direct and incendiary as you could hope for from anything in the genre. What this Northern California group really excels at though is taking brief, interestingly inventive detours along its chosen path of punk-rock destruction. It’s the subtle hints of discord brewing beneath the guitar’s thrashy metallic sheen or the complexity of an unrelenting rhythm section that really makes Yesterday’s News pulse with such an unpredictable, undeniable energy. Recommended for fans of Comadre, Ruiner and The Bronx

Stay tuned for Strike To Survive news and updates, including a video premier in July. Be sure to follow the band on Facebook and Twitter for daily updates.
