The Bullitts (known as the moniker for producer and musical renaissance man Jeymes Samuel) introduce the world to new track “They Die By Dawn” featuring Yasiin Bey (Mos Def) & Jay Electronica exclusively through ROLLING STONE. This is the title track from The Bullitts debut album They Die By Dawn & Other Short Stories, coming this summer 2013.
“‘They Die By Dawn’ is the definitive sound of the Bullitts,” Jeymes tells Rolling Stone. “It’s the epitome of what I call ‘creating from the hip.'”
This track was one of the original inspirations behind Samuel’s film ‘They Die By Dawn,’ which premiered at this year’s SXSW to rave reviews.
The Bullitts is one of today’s most creative minds in the entertainment world. Collaborating with a hand-picked list of artists and actors from Jay-Z, Jay Electronica and Yasiin Bey to Idris Elba and Rosario Dawson, The Bullitts will be bringing you something within They Die By Dawn & Other Short Stories unlike you have ever heard.
They Die By Dawn & Other Short Stories also includes tracks “Close Your Eyes,” “Landspeeder,” and “Supercool.” All were released mid – late 2011 and were recognized as “The Hottest Record In The World” by BBC Radio 1’s legendary DJ Zane Lowe.
The Bullitts have a strong cinematic element to their music and have accompanied all of their releases with a short film, shot and directed by Jeymes. The “Close Your Eyes” video features narration by actress Lucy Liu and rap solos by Jay Electronica while re-imagining the Salvador Dali and Luis Bunuel film ‘Un Chien Andalou.’ The video for “Supercool” featured Samuel dressed as a homeless individual being harassed by an individual who is filming him against his will. During this he bumps into actress Rosario Dawson and the pair end up having a dance off on the streets of Soho.
The Bullitts headlined at The Big Chill Festival in August 2011 playing the main stage and delivering an unforgettable performance with Idris Elba, Lucy Liu, and Jay Electronica. Look out for an upcoming collaboration between The Bullitts and Jay-Z on ‘Great Gatby.’ Feature at The Hollywood Reporter HERE!
