Madison, WI’s psych punk duo The Hussy have released the MP3 for “Blame” from their forthcoming third LP, Pagan Hiss, slated for release on May 7th via Southpaw Records (Ty Segall, Bare Wires, Useless Eaters, Digital Leather, Young Guv, Ketamines, etc.) The band will head out on a month-long European tour in May, and will tour both coasts of the United States in Summer 2013.

Listen/Download: “Blame” MP3 (cleared to post)

Over the past few years The Hussy has gained a following through constant touring, intense live shows and a prolific output. The band’s immediately classic sophomore LP, Weed Seizure (Tic Tac Totally Records), turned heads with its wicked array of pummeling drums and swirling guitars. Just a year later, The Hussy returns with Pagan Hiss: 14 tracks of pungent and poignant psych-punk/trash-art that twists the limits of both punk and pop music. Recorded by Bobby Hussy, Pagan Hiss is the band’s third LP and their first for Southpaw Records.

Early Praise for Pagan Hiss:

“…furious, face-melting boy-girl dynamic.” – Spin

“Sure, there’s menace behind Bobby’s power chords, and Heather definitely knows how to bash, but there’s nuance here. They mess around with a few different guitar textures, vary up their volume for dramatic effect, and line the whole track with sonics worthy of an old sci-fi or horror movie.” – Pitchfork

“The record focuses on what The Hussy does best, high-octane shake with a hard dose of pop roiling underneath. The band keeps it short and sweet, tempos in the realm of frenzied and the guy / girl shout-a-longs careening across your speakers like bumper cars out of control.” – Raven Sings the Blues
