Copenhagen four-piece THEE ATTACKS is poised to take Toronto by storm when they roll into town for Canadian Music Week (CMW) in March.  The band’s sophomore LP Dirty Sheets will be released March 19 on Conveyor Canada, and was produced with Liam Watson at the helm, renowned for recording the White Stripes breakthrough #1 album “Elephant” in his très hot, die-hard analogue studio Toe Rag in London, UK.

Hailing from Northern Denmark, Thee Attacks are Jimmy (vocals), Terry (guitar), Johnny (bass) and Ritchie (drums), 4 young kids who legally changed each of their surname to “Attack”, and with an average age of 23.  In spite of their relatively short career, the band has already played several profile gigs in Paris, Berlin, London, Madrid, New York, Toronto and Austin earning a well-deserved reputation for putting on a frenetic and unrelenting live show.  At their SxSW debut in 2011, MOJO Magazine were so blown away with Thee Attacks’ performance, the band made MOJO’s SxSW Magnificent Seven list.  Three tracks from Dirty Sheets were also chosen as a backdrop to the 2013 World U20 Hockey Championships earlier this year.

Thee Attacks is notably signed to uber-cool independent Danish label Crunchy Frog Records, perhaps best known on this side of the Atlantic for introducing the world to artists such as Junior Senior and The Raveonettes.  In line with CMW’s 2013 Focus on Nordic Regions, Crunchy Frog will be amping up The Garrison with a showcase highlighting some of the finest noise rock from the region, including Iceland’s synth maestros, Apparat Organ Quartet, and buzzworthy new signing Shiny Darkly.  Inspired by the post punk and shoegaze heroes of the 80s (Joy Division, The Cure, Echo & The Bunnymen, Jesus & The Mary Chain) the three-piece create dark, yet highly-charged music that caught the ear of Crunchy Frog on first listen of theirs 4-track demo. Vocalist Kristoffer Bech’s has even drawn comparison to the likes of Nick Cave, and Ian Curtis. (Details for the showcase below.)

“a hypersonic, groove-infused MC5/glam/Hives mélange” – Kieron Tyler (The Arts Desk, MOJO Magazine)

”My new favourite Danish band is definitely Thee Attacks. They were amazing. A band like them does not exist in USA.” – David Fricke (Rolling Stone Magazine)
