San Francisco’s There’s Talk have just released their highly anticipated debut EP, Tiny Strands, earlier this month. Stemming from brainchild Olivia Lee, this gorgeous folk infused trio started out as a solo endeavor which is self-defined as “compartmentalizing of hurt.” Lee, a stunning multi-instrumentalist and talented songwriter, began writing between other collaborated efforts, and started recording There’s Talk material in the converted garage studio of her friend, Nic De La Riva. She then finished recording and mixing with engineer Ian Pellicci (Yann Tiersen, Rogue Wave, Hauschka) at John Vanderslice’s Tiny Telephone Studio.

Recently There’s Talk released their stunning debut single, “The Salt,” which quickly became a favorite of critics and fans alike. The band’s sultry echoing tone is ready to draw you in with haunting piano melodies alongside Lee’s smoky vocals.
Autumn 2012 found Lee bringing in the help of other local musicians to create her unforgettable sound for live performances. Kellen Balla (programming, guitar, vocals) and Young Lee (guitar, vocals), were brought on board, with the hopes of recreating and expanding the ambitious visions of the record for the live performances. The new songs took shape and suddenly began to transform. This change creates both a delicate and hauntingly dynamic soundscape that now sets the tone for the full band, There’s Talk.
The stunning upcoming EP Tiny Strands, which is rich with eclectic subtleties and dark harmonies reminiscent of folk influence Sufjan Stevens and laced with textual confessions of Youth Lagoon, is out via Bandcamp, CD and exclusive white vinyl.
