Toronto pop-rockers The Heights are set to take this summer by storm, thanks to their stunning new EP “Drag Race On The Moon” – which drops 9th July.
Bursting with passion, soaring melodies and infectious choruses, “DROTM” is the rapidly rising band’s third release, following on from their debut self-titled EP and “Bonacres” in April 2012.
What was initially a solo project by lead singer Gavin Sutton back in 2011, has grown into a full band packed with undoubted talent.
The Heights bring a wide range of influences to the table from the likes of Coldplay, City and Colour and John Mayer, while also clearly carving out their own signature sound.
Having already shared the stage with scene-heavyweights such as Set Your Goals, Silverstein and Fireworks, The Heights are ready to emulate their peers by significantly building on their fan base on the back of their new EP.
Stated as the “game-changer” by the band, this five-track EP encapsulates just what makes The Heights so special.
Opener “Soldier” is a epic statement of intent. Gripping you from the off with its bubbling build-up, you just know there’s a huge chorus ready to kick in and boy are you right!
With a soundscape Angels and Airwaves and 30 Seconds To Mars would be proud of, “Soldier” sounds huge.
“Drag Race On The Moon” is a multi-faceted EP, from the soaring “Soldier” to the sun-soaked stomps of “Some You Give Away” and “Devil” the standard is always set at sky-high.
There are also more reflective moments seen on the beautifully haunting “Spinning Webs” and closer “You Make Me”.
A swagger runs throughout the impressive EP – evidence of a band coming of age and enjoying every moment of it.
“Drag Race On The Moon” is self-released on 9th July 2013
