Veronika Vesper is many things and every thing: cyber visionary, fashion model, electronic pop star, classical flutist – but above all: a consummate performer. Think of an artist that seductively and powerfully paints a surreal cyberscape featuring cinematic electronic pop with hard beats and alluring, sometimes unnerving performance art. She would see it not so much a ‘talent’ but more as a calling.
The daughter of a world famous Czechoslovakian conductor and from a family of classical musicians, it is only fitting Vesper would become a multi-instrumental musical protégé by the age of six. Then followed years of struggling in what she would call ‘the darkness’, attempting to find herself and a use for her talents. Overcoming addiction and depression, and a medically induced near death experience, she emerged fully charged with a new bold creativity. She managed to unite the conflicting light and dark sides of her personality culminating a new self determination to achieve her wildest dreams – and to help others to do the same.
She is no shrinking violet either: Visually Vesper is striking and bold, unafraid to go where no one has gone before both aesthetically and musically. Unsurprisingly this had led to a great deal of interest in her from the fashion world and she has modelled for several designers and photographers.
April 26 sees the release of her new single ‘ Rule’. Club mixes of the track from the likes of KKlass , Whey Baq and tempo Elektrik are available now on Beatport and are being played all over clubland and specialist radio.
The song is a confident statement of self-belief over adversity. As Vesper asserts:
The way we see things , and our attitude towards them, determine if things appear to us as positive or negative. Therefore in every situation we can decide if we are a victim of the circumstances or if we ‘rule’.
The song is based on my previous life experiences and struggles with my own darkness and insecurities. It also touches upon a method of identification I sometimes use, when I feel low or that I can’t do something. In this case I’m calling upon my favourite heroic character Lara Croft and inviting her consciousness to blend with mine and pass on the superpowers.
So there you have it: Having struggled with her own darkness and light Vesper boldly declares :
