Wye Oak

On April 29th, Wye Oak released their fourth studio album, Shriek on Merge Records. The band will now release the single “Logic of Color” which the New York Times described as a “voguish nod to retro synth pop” and Rolling Stone called “triumphant.” “When I wrote this song I knew it would be the last track on the record,” said lead singer Jenn Wasner. “On the surface, it’s probably the most straightforward pop song we’ve ever made. But it’s also a song about people and about the creative process–about trying to capture intangible, ephemeral things for a moment and attempting to make them sit still. It’s a beautiful process, but one rooted in loss and impermanence–so I wanted it to sound open-ended, like an unfinished thought.”

The band recently performed the track on WNYC Soundcheck. Watch the performance here

Wye Oak will be on tour throughout the summer in both Europe and the US and will play their first hometown show since the release of Shriek in Baltimore on July 26th at the Metro Gallery Charles Street Parking Lot with Wume and Matmos as openers. They begin the full U.S. Tour starting July 5th. With the assistance of Revolutions Per Minute $2 of every ticket sold on this tour will go to a local charity of the band’s choice.
