The Los Angeles music scene is buzzing with exciting new talent who are about to burst into the national (and global) spotlight. Last week, I wrote about Kitten who has been an LA crowd fave for a while now and was recently scooped up by Atlantic Records. Y LUV is the teaming of Freddy, Sam, Marcello, Evan and Luke who first met in college at USC. Together they craft a peppy blend of synth-edged dance-rock with hooky DIY pop stylings that is mightily infectious. For the sake of simplicity, think of their music as a mixture of The Killers and Foster The People, another Los Angeles outfit who have hit the big time. Y LUV is Freddy, Sam, Marcello, Evan, and Luke who first met while at the University of Southern California. Together they craft a blend of synth-edged dance rock with DIY pop hooks that are mightily infectious. Their most recent single, “Driftin”, reached #1 on the Hype Machine chart within a week of its release and landed them the #6 spot on We Are Hunted. They also just released a video for their breakout song, and fan favorite, “Keep it Rollin”. The band just announced they will be playing the main stage at The Voodoo Music Festival in New Orleans alongside the likes of Neil Young, Green Day, and Jack White the weekend of October 26-28.
