Vancouver-based Yukon Blonde are pleased to announce their new full-length, Tiger Talk set for a March 20 release with Dine Alone Records (Tokyo Police Club, Neon Indian). To usher in its arrival, they have offered their first single ‘Stairway’ for free mp3 download, which will be released on 7″ vinyl January 31. Last fall, the quartet embarked on a 62+ date North American tour including Daytrotter and American Songwriter sessions along the way. Currently in the midst of a world-wide tour, the band has announced forthcoming US shows and appearances at SXSW ’12.
Produced by Colin Stewart (Black Mountain, Ladyhawk) the tracks on Tiger Talk are short and punchy, as the band trimmed the fat and packed hooks and brisk tempos into streamlined arrangements. Eschewing the analog tape of their past work in favor of a crisp digital approach with synthesizer flourishes, the band agonized over tones and meticulously crafted the new songs, four of which were released on their last year’s Fire//Water EP.
Yukon Blonde’s single “Fire” was featured on an episode of the ABC show Revenge shortly after the the TV show How I Met Your Mother made a reference to the group. Performing at Milwaukee Summerfest with Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros this summer, the last few years has seen them rack up nonstop tour mileage both in North America and Europe, including festivals such as SXSW, CMJ and Popkomm Festival in Berlin along the way. Make sure to see them live in concert as they’ll be coming to a city near you soon.
