Vancouver-based Yukon Blonde have revealed info about the first single, “Stairway” taken from their forthcoming spring 2012 LP. The quartet is currently wrapping up a 62 date North American tour behind their Fire//Water EP via Dine Alone Records (Tokyo Police Club, Neon Indian) including an amazing session with Daytrotter and an American Songwriter session along the way. Yukon Blonde will conclude the tour in Los Angeles, CA on Dec. 22nd before jet-setting to Australia. The band has also annnounced 2012 worldwide tour dates including scheduled appearances at SXSW ’12.

Due out on January 31st, “Stairway” will be released on Itunes and 7″ vinyl, including a B-Side home-recorded DEMO version of a future album track called “Radio,” with a brash stomp worthy of early Elvis Costello. Melodically contrasted with one another, both songs on the Stairway 7″ hint at the range of paths sonically taken with the band’s sophomore LP which will be available in early 2012.

Yukon Blonde’s career has so far been marked by their on-the-road ethic. Last fall they embarked on a 30+ date tour supporting Good Old War, as well as several headlining runs down each coast. This summer the young B.C. band played at Milwaukee Summerfest with Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros and the last year and a half has seen them rack up nonstop tour mileage both in North America, and Europe, including festivals such as SXSW, CMJ and Popkomm Festival in Berlin along the way. Make sure to check them out as they’ll be coming to a city near you soon.
